Last September
we entered the Colonel John Higgs Village Hall Competition
and, after the first round of inspections, we were shortlisted
in the final six.
The competition doesn't centre around the best building -
ours is far from that! - but on how well it is run and supported
by the community it serves. The inspectors looked at not only
maintenance, cleanliness, available facilities (such as kitchen,
disabled persons' toilet, ease of entry etc) but also our
Booking Diary and current accounts.
On 8th November our Chairman and Treasurer attended a special
reception at Blaby and District Social Centre to hear the
results and were pleased to accept a certificate for being
'highly commended'. This is on display in the entrance hall.
This is only the second time we have entered this competition,
and the Committee is very pleased that we have reached this
level in such a short time.
