Lubenham
was declared the overall winner in the Central Region, and
on Wednesday 5th December John and Margaret Martin, representing
the village's subrnission, were both delighted and honoured
to represent the village at the Awards Lunch held in the Millennium
Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London.
This was a splendid event, attended by around 250 people including
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, who presented our
representatives with the winner's plaque together with a cheque
for £1000. John Humphrys, the well known broadcasting personality,
later announced that Lubenhatn was also the winner of the
Central Region Business Category award; for this we received
another plaque and a cheque for £250 will follow.
Sincere thanks are due to all those people involved who made
our entry so successful and for giving our representatives
the opportunity to experience such a memorable occasion.
The money presented to the village has been put into a Trust
Fund. Trustees have been appointed.
Your views on the following points would be appreciated: Where
should the two plaques be displayed? How, and when, should
they be presented; and to whom? Should there be a social function
to celebrate the village's success - if so, what form should
it take?
