Youngsters
Outline Village Needs
Youths in Lubenham and Theddingworth voiced their suggestions
for future facilities in their villages at an open meeting.
The meeting, at Lubenham Village Hall last Monday, was
attended by 12 boys and girls aged between 11 and 15.
Youth workers John Manning and Samm Cessford arranged
the meetings to find out what provisions young residents
would like to see.
Each home in the area received a brief letter and questionnaire
beforehand asking for opinions.
Mr Manning said, "We had quite a positive feedback.
We all had a chat to find out could be done and how we
could improve the area for them. Suggestions included
goal posts on Lubenham green and for the grass to be cut
regularly so they can enjoy ball games." |

Carnival
Float Winners [photo]
Lubenham's Coach and Horses pub won the £50 first
prize in the adult's float competition, choosing horror
as the theme for their ghoulish and ghastly trailer.
They spent a week decking out their float with gravestones,
bats and blood.
Landlord Geoff Sykes said: "It's the first time we
have entered the Carnival Parade as we have only been
at the pub about a year. All the regulars wanted to do
something, so we decided to take part". |

Spotlight
on Village's History [photo]
Visitors to Lubenham learnt all about the history of the
village at an exhibition.
The Local Parish Investigation Project at the village
hall on Tuesday aimed to involve the community in exploring
and recording the village's broad history.
People found out about the geology of the area, years
gone by, present day life, local wildlife and the ecology
of the parish.
The project was set up by Leicestershire County Counci's
Museum, Arts and records service. |

Working
Holiday for Little Chatterboxes [photo]
Children from a Lubenham club made a garden, a tomb and
a boulder at an Easter workshop on Saturday.
The All Saints' Lubenham Chatterbox Club met up for the
workshop and after building the tomb, they sealed it up
with the boulder which will be opened up again at Easter.
Numbers to the club have recently increased as many parents
have helped to repair the church's wall, which is being
carried out by volunteers under the expert direction of
Trevor Alcock. |
