About Us
The Club draws members from all over Northamptonshire as well as
the surrounding counties of Leicestershire, Rutland, Lincolnshire
and Cambridgeshire.
The Club completes and organises events in all disciplines of the
sport e.g. Track & Field, Road Running, Cross Country, Sportshall,
Indoor, Schools, Disabled, etc etc.
Highlights include when the Club were crowned overall champions
of the Midland Men’s Track and Field League in 1997.
The Club has members that compete at all levels e.g. Fun Runners,
County, Midlands, English Schools, National and International. The
most successful of whom are Brendan Reilly who has competed in the
high jump at European, World & Olympic level and Karen Harewood
who competed in the World Indoor Championships over 800m.
The Club recently became only the 3rd athletic club in the East
Midlands and the 1st in the county to be awarded Clubmark accreditation
by UK:athletics.
This Sport England award is available to all sports clubs not just
athletics. It is awarded to a Club that is able to demonstrate that
it meets all the criteria set for competition, child protection,
sports equity, health & safety and club management.
The Clubmark is an acknowledgement that we take the above issues
seriously and that we are striving to provide a high quality and
welcoming environment for all, especially young participants in
the sport.
We welcome parents attending all competition and training sessions
and value their support. We are keen encourage any parent to get
involved with the Club at any level for example helping a coach,
manning the refreshment counter or maybe even getting fit for themselves.
The Club is a voluntary non-profit making organisation. The Coaches,
Officials, Team Managers, Volunteers and Committee Members all give
their time freely and without this the Club would cease to exist.
The Club is affiliated to UK Athletics, AAA of England, Midland
Counties AA and Northamptonshire AA and competes as a team in various
leagues and championships, as well as athletes competing individually
in open competition and major championships.
